About the Author

If you must know something about me, the first and foremost thing is that I don’t like to just “do” something. I want to be the best, to know the best, to do the best, and to inspire the people around me to reach for greater goals. This means working with incredible people and constantly learning from others. I have had incredible opportunities to work with people who have made me a better person, athlete, engineer, and business colleague because I have been able to learn from those greats around me.

“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.”- Steve Jobs

I have been labeled as a guy where the ocean is vast, but not very deep. I find find interest in many things and want to learn about all of them. As a kid, I drank in random facts from just about everywhere. Want to know the score for that one football game six years ago that was played in the middle of the day? Got it. Sports were and are a vast source of information and entertainment. They tell both individual stories and reflect on society as a whole. Outside of my love for sports, I loved to tinker with things as a kid regardless of how much trouble I might get into. Pro tip, don’t take apart your mom’s vacuum cleaner.

Among school and many different and cool jobs, this life story unfolded. I can’t forget to mention the time I moved in college. While working with a youth group, I was lucky enough to meet a girl who would ultimately become my wife. A woman who happens to share a love for learning, as well as being able to appreciate my sense of humor (and at times, sarcasm). Through our long distance relationship, I learned the value of communication and the importance of valuing each other. She keeps me sane and isn’t afraid to sit and listen after a rant about a tough day. Bonus- we’re working on her to become an FSU fan. She’s getting there.  Fast forward several years, and two degrees from the Florida State University has become an accomplishment that is intertwined into my identity. The school I loved as a kid has forever become a part of my story. With this knowledge in hand, I was able to work as a software engineer, and have learned that sometimes you have to work outside of your standard job description.  This proves to be both a blessing and a challenge- one that I readily accept.

In my free time, I try to find ways to stay active and have fun. Kayaking, biking, softball, basketball, disc golf, and even beach volleyball have become staples of activity after work and on weekends. Competition is something the I constantly love and I am always looking for a way to get active, have fun, and hopefully have some people around me to measure progress.

The pursuit of excellence has been something that has saturated every aspect of my life. In education, developing relationships, and even in hobbies- I want to pursue the best person I can be. My hope is that this blog can provide insight into that pursuit, and that you too will be able to enjoy the random musings of this life.
